Ricotta cakes topped with rocket avocado, served with a pistachio relish and caramelised grapes.
Kopapa is a great place for a classy breakfast in Covent Garden. This dish was light yet filling and really tasty.

But that’s not Pizza?
I was fortunate enough to start work in Kentish Town in the same month that a trio of exciting new restaurants opened right by my office complex. These are Dirty Burger, The Chicken Shop & Pizza East. Unfortunately the chicken shop only opens for dinner but I graced the others with my presence during several lunch breaks over the last few months.
It’s not that their pizzas don’t deserve a blog post. They have a traditional wood oven and delicious Italian style simple pizzas. I decided on this occasion to go with the wood oven cooked chicken stew. The broth was full of flavour with vegetables, beans and chicken on the bone. Balanced on the side of the bowl were delicious crispy polenta sticks – a perfect accompaniment! They were some sort of crispy fried dough sticks placed on top, with a herby flavour.

I was really excited to try out one of London’s new attractions. Duck and Waffle restaurant is located on the 40th floor of the Heron tower near Liverpool Street. The view over the London is worth a visit alone!
The signature dish is this Duck and Waffle breakfast. Duck confit with a duck egg, served on a waffle with golden syrup. We had a chat with the executive chef, Daniel Doherty who was really friend and gave the place a personal touch.

I’m a big fan of Israeli chef Yotam Ottolenghi. He has several restaurants in London and works with his arab friend Sami Tamini. They bring flavours together flavours from the middle east with new flavours and ideas.
This photo is a trip to his cafe style venue in Islington, simply called “Ottolenghi”. This is the shakshuka which is a North African dish of poached eggs in a tomato and vegetable sauce. Ottolenghi’s recipe is much more spicy and tasty than any shakshuka I’ve tried before. He uses spices including cumin and coriander for a really interesting dish. Here is his recipe if you want to recreate it yourself:

This is my first post from my new compact camera. I’m really pleased with this new Canon, it’s got a great zoom and lots of settings to play with. I took this picture at Bar Fifty-Five in Camden. They have an extensive cocktail menu with some really exciting flavours. My favourite drink of the night was a basil and strawberry martini. This picture is a regular run Martini made by Rich the barman who gave us free shots of taking this picture!
